Terms of Service
The rules of using BuiltCV — short and readable.
Last updated: 11 June 2026
1. The service
BuiltCV provides AI-assisted CV analysis and rewriting, cover letter generation, interview preparation, skill-gap roadmaps, live job search, and visa work-eligibility guidance ("the Service"). By using the Service you agree to these terms.
2. Not professional advice
- Visa guidance is not immigration advice. Our visa checker and guides summarise published UKVI rules for general information. We are not OISC-regulated advisers. Always verify with GOV.UK, your university's international office, or a regulated adviser before acting.
- AI output can be wrong. Scores, rewrites, and suggestions are generated by AI and may contain errors. You are responsible for reviewing anything before sending it to an employer.
- No outcome guarantees. We don't guarantee interviews, offers, specific ATS scores, or visa outcomes.
3. Your responsibilities
- Only submit truthful information. Don't use the Service to fabricate qualifications, experience, or references — our tools are designed to present your real experience well, not invent it.
- Keep your account credentials secure; you're responsible for activity under your account.
- Don't abuse the Service: no scraping, reverse engineering, reselling, attempting to bypass usage limits, or submitting unlawful content.
4. Subscriptions and billing
- Paid plans (Pro, Career) bill in advance via Stripe on the cycle you choose (weekly or monthly) until cancelled.
- You can cancel anytime; access continues to the end of the paid period. See the Refund Policy.
- We may change prices with advance notice; changes apply from your next billing cycle.
5. Content and intellectual property
You keep all rights to your CV and the documents generated from it — use them however you like. The BuiltCV name, site design, and software remain ours. You grant us only the limited licence needed to process your content to provide the Service.
6. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under UK law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
7. Termination
You can stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms. Sections that by nature should survive (IP, liability) survive termination.
8. General
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If any clause is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. We may update these terms; continued use after changes means acceptance.
Anything unclear?
We keep our terms readable on purpose. If something doesn't make sense, just ask.
